Radio Liberty’s Tajik Service , known locally as Radio Ozodi , says a court in Dushanbe’s Ismoili Somoni district sentenced Izzat Amon to six years in prison on June 6.

A prominent Tajik actor has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after being found guilty of extortion, two sources familiar with the case told RFE/RL on June 10. An official at the Dushanbe court where the actor was tried said that Behrouz Saeed, 25, had his prison sentence cut by three years under an amnesty.
